Jack was one of the biggest names in UK Athletics in the 1980's. He mixed it with the biggest names - Coe, Cram, Ovett, Elliott etc. Jack was European Champion in 1986 setting a time that is still a record today. He  moved on to take a high profile role with Adidas before an ill fated experience as the owner of an orchard in New Zealand. He returned to work for Sport England and then lead British Triathlon and now British Swimming.
