Episode Synopsis
Gerry's story takes us from a childhood at the border of Northern Ireland and the Republic during 'The Troubles' to his current life working with housing associations to find land for development. Gerry left school with a hope that he could make get a job but had to emigrate to London to find work. It wasn't easy. After years in the building industry he decided he would like to work in an office and applied for a manager's role with William Hill the bookmaker. But that wasn't enough for him and he was soon working in the world of housing. Years after leaving school he made it to university and armed with qualifications he eventually set up his own company.Gerry now works for himself, spends a lot of time in Spain - and watches Leeds United.
