222 - Steve Wynn (the Dream Syndicate, the Baseball Project)
In episode 222 of “Have Guitar Will Travel”, presented by Vintage Guitar Magazine, host James Patrick Regan speaks with singer/guitarist Steve Wynn from the Dream Syndicate and the Baseball Project as well as solo. In their conversation Steve tells us about his current tour schedule and living in Queens, NY for the past 30 years and Steve tells us about his adventures in NYC in the 80’s.
Steve talks about his childhood and growing up musically in LA buying sheet music at the neighborhood music store.
Steve describes his alternate passion early on as a sports writer and going to UC Davis where he met Kendra Smith the eventual bass player for the Dream Syndicate.
Steve takes through the guitars he’s used throughout the years and what he’s using now on stage mostly Fenders and an Epiphone Riviera and his struggles with the Jazzmaster and the lack of needing an amp when touring and he describes his pedal chain including a signature pedal made by Ruess.
Steve describes why the Dream Syndicate had a limited presence on MTV yet a big European following.
