Listen "How Owen & Camille Became Happy House Hackers"
Episode Synopsis
In this episode, we share our journey of navigating the challenging terrain of homeownership in California. We discuss the concept of house hacking, a strategy we discovered through Scott Trench's book, "Set for Life." This approach involves purchasing a multi-unit property, living in one unit, and renting out the others to cover mortgage expenses. Despite the initial hurdles and setbacks, including finding a 4-unit property in an unfamiliar town and renovating it during a pandemic, we turned our first home into an income-producing asset. Living frugally in our fixer-upper for a year allowed us to save enough to move back to our preferred location while retaining the investment property. The process was demanding, but we believe that taking proactive steps and thinking unconventionally can lead to financial success. Join us on this podcast as we aim to inspire and empower young people to start their homeownership journey early, using our experiences and insights to make this dream more attainable.
