Matthew is describing the last few hours before the crucifixion. After leaving the upper room, Jesus and the disciples go to the Garden of Gethsemane. The name of the garden literally means "oil press" which is fitting, given that Jesus would show just how much stress He was under at this point. What we also find here are three principles about prayer, lived out by the God who hears our prayers. And we learn about the heart of Christ – the Savior so often disappointed by His disciples but who kept loving them and kept calling them His own. We can draw great comfort from the fact that He still loves His followers that way.
