In this edition of Gateway to Africa the National Film and Video Foundation is leading a delegation of film makers to the Cannes International Film Festival in France to showcase films made in South Africa. They include Asinamali, Zulu Wedding and She is King which is attracting much attention. Cannes International Film Festival is a world recognized premiere film festival and marketing event which brings together filmmakers and key decision makers from across the world. NFVF marketing and communication head Peter Kwele says South Africa’s presence at the event is part of position strategy. And the just ended 2nd South African Cultural Observatory National conference which attracted experts and practitioners from across the world is intended to strengthen knowledge and capacity of South Africa’s creative economy to unlock higher levels of inclusive growth. We feature SACO chief executive officer Prf. Richard Haines, Bamturaki Msinguzi of Uganda and Kgosi Nyathi, programmes manager of Amagugu International Heritage Centre in Zimbabwe.
