Episode Synopsis
Welcome to Episode #2 of the FITFO Podcast. During this Episode Bryan is trying to figure out how to Fight of the dad bod with Mr. Eric Schmitt, the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach with the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies organization. Prior to working in the NBA he served as the Director of Sports Performance at UCSB where he oversaw all aspects of strength & conditioning and nutritional needs of the 450 Gaucho student-athletes across 20 programs.
Eric was hired at UCSB after serving as an assistant sports performance director at UCLA where he was responsible for the assessment, design and implementation of all aspects of the men’s soccer, men and women’s golf, and men and women’s water polo teams athletic performance programs. He designed and implemented all aspects of performance enhancement programming from in-season and off-season sport specific preparation, movement skills, plyometric, speed, agility, conditioning, and injury prevention.
Eric earned his bachelor’s of science from California Polytechnic State University with a concentration in Kinesiology, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He obtained a Master’s of Science in Strength and Conditioning from Springfield College.
Eric has his NSCA certifications as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. He is Functional Movement Systems levels 1 and 2 certified and also holds certifications with United States of America Weightlifting and Precision Nutrition.
