Episode Synopsis

1 Corinthians 12:1–7 (ESV)— 1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be uninformed. 2 You know that when you were pagans you were led astray to mute idols, however you were led. 3 Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says “Jesus is accursed!” and no one can say “Jesus is Lord” except in the Holy Spirit. 4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; 6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. 7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. YOU MUST BE INFORMED ON SPIRITUAL GIFTS! BECAUSE YOU ARE EMPOWERED TO USE YOUR GIFTS FOR THE GLORY OF GOD AND THE GOOD OF OTHERS! INFORMED IN SPIRITUAL GIFTS,  NOT IGNORANT AND LED ASTRAY v1-2All informed! a)    Because All Participate (v7,11, Romans 12:3-6, 1 Peter 4:10-11) b)   Because All Formerly Ignorant ( Ephesians 2:1-5, Titus 3:3-6, 1 Peter 1:14-15)   INFORMED TO EFFECT YOUR WORDS AND ACTIONS v3 a)    Lip Service Is Not Service In Christ (Matthew 7:21-23, Matthew 12:33-37) b)    All Service In Christ Is By The Power Of The Spirit  Romans 10:9–10 (ESV) because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart onebelieves and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. Matthew 7:21–23 (ESV) — 21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ Matthew 12:33–37 (ESV) — 33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad, for the tree is known by its fruit. 34 You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 35 The good person out of his good treasure brings forth good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure brings forth evil. 36 I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, 37 for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”  EMPOWERED BY THE TRIUNE GOD WITH GIFTS FOR SERVICE  v4-7 a)     Variety In Gifts, Service And Activitiesb)    Same Spirit, Lord, God; Unity In Purpose And Powerc)     Each Given A Manifestation For The Common Good 7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 1 Corinthians 12:8 (ESV) — 8 For to one is given through the Spirit….to another… to another… 11 All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills. Romans 12:3–6 (ESV) — 3 For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. 4 For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, 5 so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. 6 Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them… 1 Peter 4:10–11 (ESV) — 10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: 11 whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
