Listen "2016 Jocelyn Rainey re Bruce Giffin The Face of Detroit photo exhibit at Detroit Repertory"

Episode Synopsis

Jocelyn Rainey, is the Curator of Exhibitions Detroit Repertory Theatre Gilda Snowden Gallery. Jocelyn an award–winning artist and dean of arts instruction at Wayne County Community College District tells why she wanted Bruce Giffin's "Face of Detroit" photo exhibit to be on exhibit during Repertory Performances of "Homeless and How We Got that Way" which runs thru Sunday June 26. (313 868-1347)I had read about the Bruce's exhibit being at the Rep Theatre and planned to attend. I was pleased that Bruce came by my Detroit Urban Consulate Parlor Talk and I told him I planned to go see the exhibit. Then I asked him if he would go with me and tell me about it. We went to the Rep Theatre on a Sunday. It was a packed house for the play "Homeless and How We Got There". Bruce walked me around the exhibit sharing touching backstories of those in the photos. A few nights later I attended the reception and turned on my recorder when Jocelyn started sharing her feelings about Bruce's "The Face of Detroit" work ... and Bruce shared and those in attendance shared and created what I feel is a nice talk story. Detroit Repertory Theatre is in it's 59th year. Bruce Giffin has been sharing his work for over 25 years. I am grateful for reconnecting with both recently. I was touched by Bruce's "The Face of Detroit" exhibit and encourage you to check out more of his work on his facebook page. Thanks for listening...
