In conversation this week is Dr. Sheree Trotter, who is a Māori New Zealander of the Te Arawa iwi (tribe) and a researcher, writer, and co-director of the Indigenous Coalition for Israel and co-founder of the Holocaust and Antisemitism Foundation, Aotearoa New Zealand, along with Dr. Saba Soomekh, who is the Associate Director at the human rights organization American Jewish Committee-Los Angeles and a lecturer at The Academy for Jewish Religion-CA, where she teaches Religious Studies and Middle Eastern History courses.
They discuss the history of the Jewish people in the land of Israel and how the issue of indigeneity has become increasingly weaponized.
