In this Episode, Tshepiso is in conversation with Dr Nthabiseng Mabena, who is a Clinical Psychologist, as they tackle issues around mental health.
Dr Nthabiseng Mabena is a clinical psychologist currently working as a private practitioner. She consults in private medical and psychiatric hospitals on a sessional basis. She works with individuals and groups presenting with clinical disorders, trauma, marital problems, relationship difficulties and family problems. She conducts psychological assessments which include medico-legal assessments, career and scholastic assessments.
Her career began in 2005 at government hospitals where she provided psychotherapy and psychometric assessments for children, teenagers and adults. She started private work in 2007. She has been involved with wellness programmes providing short-term interventions and adopting long term interventions when necessary. She has worked for various NPO’s addressing psychosocial challenges ranging from the effects of violence in societies and communities, trauma and various forms of abuse.
Dr Mabena has been involved in intellectual development of children through an early childhood development program, assessments of primary school learners and lecturing University students. She has also been involved in youth programs that address unemployment among disadvantaged youth, by empowering or giving them skills to be employable and creating interview opportunities for them.
She is a dedicated clinical psychologist who has worked in diverse work environments such as medical, corporate, and educational settings. She believes in serving with integrity, elevating, enhancing others and making a difference.
