Edlin Veras, M.A., is a Doctoral Candidate of Sociology at the University of South Florida. His teaching and research interests explore racialization processes among African descendant peoples in the Americas. He is a 2020 American Sociological Association Minority Fellow, and since 2019, has served as Director of Research and Communication at OwnYourIAm (OYIA) (https://ownyouriam.org/), an organization that combats and spreads awareness on colorism through social media engagement and events including: articles, live streams, and interactive forums.
