Episode Synopsis
On today’s episode I chat to the Pushcart Poetry Prize nominated author Don Beukes. Growing up Don was always surrounded by adults, which had a profound impact on him since he would often just observe the world around him. This tendency to critically observe the world around him formed the foundation that would later give birth to his second voice, poetry.

He also speaks about how local journalist were not interested in his work initially, but he learned to value his own work until the world started valuing it.
Stay tuned, we speak about how apartheid shaped his earlier years, the role his older sister played in his life, and how English used to be a struggle for him.
