This week at Compass Worship we continued our "Strange Stories" series by looking at Matthew 17. Through this "fish story" Matthew pointed us to the divinity of Jesus. Jesus, being the Son of God was exempt from paying the Temple Tax however, in order to remain on mission for His Father Jesus not only paid his tax but Peter's also. This was a beautiful picture of Jesus paying our tax, our debt even though he didn't need to. Jesus lived a sinless life yet chose to take on our sin and our debt so that we could be called sons and daughters of the King. He paid a debt He didn't owe out of the depth of His love for us.
