Listen "More of Bastrop in floodplain under proposed federal map"

Episode Synopsis

More of the city of Bastrop [BASS-trahp] is considered susceptible to being inundated by floodwaters under a proposed updated federal floodplain map. Allison Land of the city’s Planning Department and Abram Barker, a floodplain administrator for Bastrop County, hosted several information sessions on Monday at the Bastrop Convention Center to inform residents, local business owners and engineers about how they should expect the new map to affect their flood insurance and permit requirements. The areas of the county in which the floodplain regions changed include Piney Creek, Gazeley Creek, Willow Creek, Cedar Creek and Dry Creek along the Travis County line.
