Matt Hudson-Smith of Great Britain broke the European record but was denied victory by Quincy Hall’s rapid finish. The men’s 3000m steeplechase was overshadowed by a bad fall from Lamecha Girma, while the field events provided more talking points thanks to a surprise Jamaican winner in the men’s shot put.
