Listen "S2 Episode 2: Part-Time Politicking"
Episode Synopsis
Aleah Denae discusses the hypocrisy and conditional nature regarding protecting black women, their bodies, their stories and their lives on all fronts. Due to April being Sexual Assault Awareness Month, she speaks on how people part-time politic when sexual assault allegations are exposed, when women of color are sexually/physically violated at the hands of men of color and how it's always "fuck 12" until it shifts to "why didn't you report it?" She relates part-time politicking to optical and performative allyship and further relates it to the recent killing of and controversy surrounding Ma'Khia Bryant. Aleah urges her listeners to check their allyship, check their homies and check themselves while listening as a means of creating more awareness and ultimately a safer world for Black women. The "My Take on Music" Segment was brief, so in essence, drop more heat.
