At the time, 1996 was the deadliest year on Mt. Everest, with the deadliest day. So many people died that year. There are several reasons why there were so many deaths that year, including inexperience and severe weather. This episode covers the deaths on the South side and part 2 will cover the North side. Often the deadliest day is referred to as the 1996 Everest Disaster.
