Episode Synopsis
Please view the video entitled “Keep My Commandments Summarized” before viewing this teaching: https://youtu.be/k7fUP105dLM?si=hnQbSUUg3t5JUYgVThe Flesh (Sarx), the New Covenant, and the Victory of JesusIn this continuation of the series on the Greek word **sarx** ("flesh"), the speaker examines the profound meaning of Jesus's victory over the flesh. The message draws on **Hebrews 5** to assert that Jesus, in the days of his flesh, offered up prayers and was heard, not because he was a "metal robot" incapable of sin, but because he was a man just like us. The video refutes the idea that our own flesh can give us life, arguing instead that our victory over sin comes from our union with Christ, where we died with him. The speaker also draws on **Hebrews 10** to explain that Jesus's flesh is the "New and Living Way" through the veil into the holy of holies, and that through the **New Covenant**, we gain his flesh, which is the receptacle for the Holy Spirit.**** Jesus was a man just like us, and his victory over the flesh is the example we are to follow.* The "days of his flesh" refer to his entire life, where he was tempted in every way but did not sin.* We do not live for ourselves, but in the power of the Holy Spirit, which fills the flesh of Jesus that we have received.* The veil to the holy of holies is Jesus's flesh, and we have a new, soft flesh in us that is filled with God's spirit.* The "wrath of God" is when God allows a person to have their own way and turns them over to something worse.* The purpose of our lives is to have a "kingdom mindset" and to live for the will of God, not for our own desires.***The video concludes by asserting that the Christian life is not about trying to be a better person through our own fleshly efforts, but about receiving God's Word, which changes our mind and our will, and is a process of being "delivered over to death" to our old self so that Christ's life can be manifested in our mortal flesh. The ultimate takeaway is that we were created weak on purpose so that we would choose to rely on the life of God in us rather than our own strength. It is only when we receive Jesus's new flesh and are filled with the Holy Spirit that we can truly live the life that He intended for us.#Sarx #TheFlesh #BiblicalTruth #DrMichaelDavis #Theology #Hebrews #NewCovenant #DependenceOnGodSarx...
